Established in March 2014, Fruitbull was born with the aim to cover the problems about the lack of information of the fruit and vegetable industry. Through its founders, Bernardo Herrero and Santiago Alvarez, two commercial managers of a multinational fruit company based in Mercamadrid, the idea was to face the daily challenges they were involved in working without the necessary information in a market with perishable products.
Due to this situation, Bernardo and Santiago created an application to facilite real-time data in order to help companies face problems they experienced, trying to get the information through endless phone calls or visits to supermarkets. In October 2014, at the international fair of fruits and vegetables FruitAttraction, was launched the first version. Fruitbull had the opportunity to get known among the entrepreneurs of the sector. The application started with the association Organizadores de Productores de Platano de Canarias (ASPROCAN), and the producers Uvas Doce, Rama Fruit, AMC Fruits and Bonyssa. Since then, the clients accounts are increasing, also including agri-food laboratories, packagers and retails chains. Since March 2015, Fruitbull started partnerships with different technology startups accelerators. First, with Seedrocket, Campus Google Madrid and Wayra Telefónica Open Future, and finally, with BStartup 10 of Sabadell Bank. Thanks to them, the original idea of the company has evolved acquiring a new dimension. Fruitbull has achieved different cases of success, such as: Winners of the BStartup Program. In October 2015, it becomes one of the ten more disruptive startups and is incorporated to the acceleration program INSPIRIT being selected as one of the five startups of Sabadell Bank. In January 2016, Fruitbull closed a major round of funding EsadeBan and in April of the same year, carries out the launch of its second version, with strategic enhancements that allow it to be internationally scalable as well as optimize the reliability of each data. Currently, Wayra, an accelerator of startups of Telefónica Digital, is mentor and shareholder of the 13% of the company. Fruitbull, is the first company worldwide with updated information about all the varieties of the fruit and vegetables to provide a complete view of the sector, and enable its customers the best decision making on trade operations at the right time. Therefore, Fruitbull contributes to the reduction of fruits and vegetables waste, generation of specialized data in real time, and optimizing process both trading and logistics.
